Preschool Philosophy

First and foremost, the Preschool is a Christ-centered environment.  Catholic values of charity, love of neighbor and self, social justice and love of God are present each day through prayer, song, and Catholic teachings.  The program is designed to meet the developmental needs of young children 3-5 years of age.  It provides experiences that enrich and enhance each child’s cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical, and faith development.  With the center’s daily schedule, each child has opportunities to create, explore the environment, learn problem-solving and personal interaction skills, and learn about God, the loving Father.

Children develop a positive self-concept through a balance of self-directed and teacher-guided activities.  There are opportunities for parallel play and large group interaction.  Staff serves as positive role models and provide care that is supportive, nurturing, respectful, and responsive to each child’s individual needs.

We respect families as the primary and most important providers of care and nurturing.  We believe that parents and teachers are partners in children’s care and education.

We are a Catholic, structured, 9-month preschool program for children ages 2, 3 and 4.

St. Catherine of Siena Preschool admits children of any race, color, ethnic and national origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded to children in the center.
